Refund and Cancellation Policy
Effective
Tickets are sold on an all-sales-final basis, with a short list of real exceptions. This page sets out exactly what those exceptions are, how refunds are paid, and how long they take.
This policy forms part of the Terms of Use and works alongside the Purchase Policy.
1.When a refund is available
A refund is available in these circumstances, and no others:
- The event is cancelled
- You receive a refund automatically. No request is needed. See Cancelled events.
- The event is postponed, rescheduled, or moved, and the Event Organizer authorizes refunds
- Your ticket normally stays valid for the new date. Where the Event Organizer approves refunds, we tell you and give you a deadline to ask. See Postponed and moved events.
- You were charged more than once for the same order, or charged for an order that was never issued
- We refund the duplicate or unmatched charge in full as soon as we identify it, whether you tell us or we find it ourselves.
- We made an error
- A wrong price, a ticket type released before it should have been, a fulfilment failure on our side. See Errors in the Purchase Policy.
- The Event Organizer approves a discretionary refund
- An Event Organizer may authorize a refund for its own event outside these rules — for example for a documented medical or bereavement reason. That decision belongs to the Event Organizer, not to us, and we can only act on it once given.
- The law requires it
- Nothing in this policy limits a right you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived by agreement.
2.What is not refunded
- No-shows. A ticket that was valid and usable is not refundable because you did not attend.
- Change of mind, a schedule conflict, travel that fell through, or buying the wrong event, date, session, or quantity.
- Line-up, timing, and seating changes. A change of supporting act, participant, running order, start time, or comparable seat or area is not a refundable change. See Line-ups, times, and venue changes.
- Refused entry or ejection for breaching the Event Organizer’s rules, for failing to meet a disclosed restriction such as a minimum age or ID requirement, or for declining a search.
- Weather, where the event goes ahead.
- Unused portions of an add-on or multi-use entitlement — unused drinks, rides, or redemptions have no cash value.
- Tickets voided for breach of the Terms of Use or Acceptable Use Policy, including tickets obtained by evading a ticket limit, and tickets voided after a chargeback.
- Delivery problems you caused, such as giving an incorrect email address. Tell us and we will re-send to a correct one; that is not a ground for a refund.
3.Cancelled events
If an event is cancelled outright, you do not need to do anything. We refund the order to the original payment method once the Event Organizer has confirmed the cancellation and the funds are available to refund, and we email you when the refund is issued.
For a cancelled event we refund the full amount you paid, including the service fee and tax — not just face value.
Where the Event Organizer offers a credit toward a future event as an alternative to a refund, we will tell you what your options are and by when you must choose. A choice applies to the whole order and cannot be split.
4.Postponed, rescheduled, or moved events
Where an event moves to a new date, time, or venue, your existing ticket remains valid and no action is needed. The QR code you already have works at the new date.
Whether a refund is offered instead is the Event Organizer’s decision. Where it authorizes refunds:
- we email everyone holding a ticket to explain the options and the deadline for choosing;
- you reply before the deadline to request a refund; and
- we process it to the original payment method.
If you do not request a refund before the deadline, your ticket stays valid for the new date and the refund option lapses. If the Event Organizer does not authorize refunds, we cannot issue one, and you keep your ticket for the rescheduled event.
5.How refunds are paid
- To the original payment method only. We cannot refund to a different card, to a bank account, in cash, or to anyone other than the person who paid. If that card is closed or expired, the refund still normally settles to the account behind it — speak to your bank if it does not appear.
- Timing. We issue the refund through the payment processor as soon as it is approved. It usually appears on your statement within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank. We cannot speed that up.
- Partial refunds are possible. Where only part of an order is refunded — some tickets and not others, or an add-on only — we refund the amount attributable to the refunded items, including the proportionate share of any discount, service fee, and tax. Tickets that are refunded are voided and will not scan.
- Free registrations. Nothing was paid, so nothing is refunded. Cancelling a free registration releases the place back to inventory and voids the ticket.
- Confirmation. Every refund generates an email to the address on the order showing the amount and what it covers.
A refunded ticket stops working immediately. If you have already used a ticket to enter an event, that ticket is not refundable.
6.How to request a refund
Write to support@fomotickets.com from the email address on the order, and include:
- your order number, from your confirmation email;
- the event name and date;
- which tickets or items you are asking about, if not the whole order; and
- a short explanation of why.
We aim to respond within 2 business days. Where the request depends on an Event Organizer’s decision we will tell you that, and come back to you once we have it.
Requests are handled in the order received. A request submitted after a published deadline, or after the event has taken place, will normally be declined.
7.Chargebacks and payment disputes
Please talk to us before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback takes weeks, costs us a fee whatever the outcome, and — because the tickets on a disputed order are voided immediately — can leave you unable to attend an event you intended to go to.
Where a chargeback is filed against a valid purchase, we act as described in Chargebacks in the Purchase Policy.
8.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as described in Section 10 of the Terms of Use. The version in force when you placed your order governs that order, so a later change cannot take away a refund right you had at the time you bought.
